The law enforcement agencies conducted traffic enforcement details on Central Park Avenue, Sprain Brook Parkway and Cross County Parkway on Saturday “in an effort to combat speeding, aggressive or reckless driving and to enhance the quality of life for residents and other motorists."

During the detail, police doled out a total of 71 tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations related to speed. Police said that on Central Park Avenue alone, several motorists were clocked driving upwards of 72 mph.

“Speeding and aggressive driving is dangerous - drivers who engage in this behavior put lives at risk; they also disturb the peace and degrade our quality of life. The Yonkers Police Department, New York State Police, and our law enforcement partners stand ready to stop these violators in their tracks.

“If you observe someone driving recklessly, call the Yonkers Police (Department) at (914) 377-7900. If (one) has a recommendation as to where to conduct (the) next enforcement detail, send (police) a tip or leave a comment on social media.”
